The weather feels more like July/August these days...just plain hot. I have been wanting some sort of baby pool for the backyard. After looking a couple of places, I found the old school blow up kind at Walmart (it was either there or drive further to babies r us). It's a neon orange three ring-er. Paco and I can both fit in it with plenty of extra room. I'm surprised at how far $8.44 got me! Lillie loves it oh so very much. She splashes the water, kind of startling herself because the water is cold. Sometimes the water splashing her makes her laugh. She also really digs hanging over the edge of the pool and pulling/playing with the grass. The dogs like to come up, snif her and lick the water off of her. She laughs at that too. The biggest bonus is that after we play in the pool, she takes a nice long nap. I love the orange pool.

first hair cut
so, I finally did it...I cut her hair.
I've been debating over whether or not to do it for a month or two now. I came up with the conclusion that it was better to do it at the beginning of summer and let it grow out to be long in the winter. Her hair was always getting stuck in her neck, and wet at the bottom from sweat. So, I did it. Laura helped. We got the bangs done first, then she took a nap. We did the back after she woke up. I like it...I think it's cute. Laura took some before pictures, I'll upload them as soon as I get them from her. For now, here's an "after".

Oh, and I got the Amber teething necklace in the mail today. YEAH! It's so cute too!

galveston
Galveston was lovely. A fun first weekend trip with Lillie and a great way to meet up with Libby. We rented a beach cottage that was a small block away from the ocean. The weather was so nice we kept the windows and doors open almost the whole time. We haven't seen Tyler since he was a little over a year old, so needless to say, it's been a while! It's so nice to catch up with old friends. Lillie loved Tyler and laughed just about everytime he came near her. He did a great job of keeping her (and me) entertained.
We spent some time on the beach, Lillie LOVED the sand, but wasn't too keen on the water. She loved to squish the sand between her fingers. It was really quite cute. She cried if I took her in the water and didn't like when I wiped the sand off of her. She took a couple of naps on the beach either in our arms or the Ergo. She did ok in the car. We got stuck both ways in Houston with either massive traffic or the highway being closed for construction (no surprises there). So considering that she isn't a big fan of the carseat anyway, I'd say she was a trooper.

busy, busy at 6 months
We've had a busy week. Let's see...
Saturday we got to see my dear friend Liz, who moved to Dallas in December. She hadn't seen Lillie since she was 6 months old. It was really nice to catch up. I miss her so much. (Lizzie, if you read this, come see us again soon!!!)
Saturday night aunt boo spent the night. She was helping Marci get ready for mother's day festivities. I didn't see her until Sunday morning since Lil and I have an early bedtime. Pax let me sleep in on mother's day. He and Leti played with the baby until I woke up at 10:00!! We had mother's day brunch at Marci's, which was a very lovely spread of delicious food. It was very nice to see the whole family. It seems like at least one of the cousins is missing when we get together, but on Sunday everyone was there. I guess that won't happen much longer since B graduates in a month and goes off to college. After Marci's we went to my mom & dad's house. We enjoyed playing on the floor with all the toys and spending time with nanna & grandad. Erin & Jaime joined us for dinner, a super nice treat since it was our first time to see him since his return from Iraq AND his first time to meet Lillie. I love to hear all of his stories about life in Iraq and some of the crazy missions he had to do. The Spurs game was on too, so there was plenty to keep us busy!
On Monday, we met Laura & Isaac at Calloway's for some going out of business sale on plants. We went a little crazy buying plants, juggling babies, and figuring out how to push 3 carts, and 2 strollers. Fun fun! Sunday was Lillie's 6 month birthday and I've been wanting to take her somewhere to take some pictures. So, we took Lillie to the McNay Muesum for a photo shoot. We took tons and tons of pictures and had a good time walking around the grounds. It's still closed for remodeling until June 6th so it was really quiet. We were stopped by a security guard who told us they are now charging $10 to take picutres even if you aren't a professional photographer!! He was very nice and said if anyone asks to tell them you're a member of the muesum and they won't charge you. Good to know! Here's some of my favorites from the shoot...
taking pictures is soooo tiring!

Yesterday, Tuesday, we went to Austin. I had to work for a few hours and then we ate some lunch at Romeo's and did some shopping. Found a great natural baby store called Austin Baby. I was like a kid in a candy store. It was filled with all kinds of things I drool over online. I bought some things I couldn't live without and then we decided to do some more shopping on s. congress. I love all of those funky little shops, especially Tesoro's. It's just yummy. We were in Uncommon Objects and there was this guy who looked just like Crab Man from My Name is Earl. Paco and I kept giggling and wondering if it was really him. Well, if you know Paco, you know that he went to see if it was. Sure enough, it was! He was in town promoting a movie that he and his friend made and doing some stand up comedy. Leti made us some fantastic fish tacos and Sari came over to see us and meet Lillie. We had such a wonderful day and didn't get home until 10 (very late for us these days!!). Got home just in time to see the Spurs lose and go to bed.
Now it's catch up time with a desperate attempt to get things done and for us to be ready to leave for Galveston on Saturday. So why am I typing? Good question...I better go make something happen!

a swing!
the quadrangle
I'm trying to catch up on some posts that I meant to do last week. Where the heck does time go? I know that's a cliche, but I seriously want to know!!
Lillie and I are sitting here watching Seasame Street and I thought I'd try to catch up. She is actually starting to watch some of it, especially when they sing or Elmo talks (there is just something to that high-pitched voice!). She is really moving around well in the walker. She sees something she wants and goes right to it. She is starting to follow the dogs around too (especially Daisy...her favorite). I set up her favorite toys on the edge of the couch and coffee table and she goes around collecting them, or uhhhh dropping them on the floor. Great fun!
She turns 6 months next week and I want to go somewhere and take some pictures of her (BIG surprise! heehee). I don't really know where I want to do it. If you think of somewhere cool, let me know!
So, last Monday we went to the Quadrangle at Ft Sam Houston with some of the AP (attachment parenting) moms. I had never even heard of it, and after some internet research I discovered that it has been around for a very long time with a rather interesting history. Google it, it's interesting. Anyway, it's a stone courtyard that has animals just roaming around. Deer, peacocks, ducks, rabbits, chickens, roosters that are more than friendly. We fed the deer a carrot right out of my hand. No zoom on the camera, these animals were right there!
I was doing a bunch of laundry and found this bunny hat. It's too small but made for a great picture!
